Canada’s Conservatives nominate Gary Vidal in Desnethé—Missinippi— Churchill River

MEADOW LAKE, SK – Conservative Party members in Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River have nominated Gary Vidal as their candidate for the 2019 federal election. The nomination vote was held in the riding over the course of the week.

“The next year is going to be important for the future of our country, and I’m thrilled to have Gary Vidal joining our team, helping to deliver our positive Conservative vision for Canada, and working hard to show our low tax plan that takes less money off every paycheque so you can get ahead, not just get by, is the right step forward for Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River,” said Andrew Scheer, Leader of Canada’s Conservatives.

Gary was born and raised in Meadow Lake and has always called the community home. He graduated from Carpenter High School in 1983 and went on to study at the University of Saskatchewan and Briercrest Bible College. Gary earned his Certified General Accountant designation (now CPA, CGA) in 1994. He is a partner in the accounting firm Pliska Vidal & Co. where he has been serving clients since 1988.

Gary was elected Mayor of the City of Meadow Lake in September of 2011 where he continues to serve his community now in his third term. He was elected Vice-Chair of the Saskatchewan City Mayors Caucus in 2016. Gary was also appointed to the SaskWater Board of Directors in 2008 where he served nearly a decade until 2017. During that time, he held various roles including Chair of the Governance and Corporate Responsibility Committee, Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee and finally, Chair of the Board from 2015-2017.

“Canada’s Conservatives have a positive vision for Canada, and I’m excited to be joining the team to ensure Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River has a strong representative in a Conservative government in 2019,” said Gary Vidal. “I will be a strong voice for lower taxes, and will ensure people are put before government by allowing individuals, families, and communities to determine their own destiny.”

With the nomination of Gary Vidal, the Conservative Party now has over 180 candidates nominated, including candidates in every riding of Saskatchewan.
